Week 2's print holds a lot of meaning for me. Inspired by a picture, I created this art not knowing where it would lead. Emily, a friend of a friend, was a little girl in the last stages of an awful, agressive cancer. During her last days, she told her parents to "tell them all that I like getting mail." I sent her the original of this painting as a gift. No longer able to travel to the sea, this would be the closest she would get in the final days of her life. Emily passed soon thereafter and this painting will forever remind me of the grace and strength she showed during her short, difficult life on this earth. Looking at this, I imagine her, forever young and beautiful, sitting in one of those chairs enjoying the view, free of pain and illness.
