Missing my Elle

My daughter, Elle is away on a short school trip and I'm quite nearly despondent. Living far away from family, I've always held my baby chicks very close under my wing. When one is out, the coldness left in her place is unsettling. I hardly slept last night and as such, I am very clucky indeed.

So, what's a mama to do? Find some of her favorite pictures of the girl to soothe her aching mama heart. She'll be home tomorrow.

Yes, I'm a total sap for my children; unapologetically so.

This was a test shoot we did last year.

5th Annual Through the Viewfinder Alphabet Challenge

The Through the Viewfinder Alphabet Challenge started, as most things I do, very organically with a picture I took of Elle's pink boots (I loved those boots!). I called the picture "B is for Boots" and the rest, as they say, is history.

The Through the Viewfinder group on flickr just wrapped up our 5th annual alphabet challenge. A letter a day, during the month of October, from A-Z. I hadn't shot much TtV this year so this was a wonderful refresher. Parting is such sweet sorrow! Until next year. :)

Take a look at the full set below and see how many letters you can identify accurately. Go on, I dare ya.

ArtSi Recap

The ArtSi show in Fort Worth was a great success. I met so many wonderful people, sold a little bit of art, didn't choke on my short speech and my family had a blast.

Oh and instead of having to drive an hour home to Dallas late at night in torrential storms, I got to stay in a cushy downtown hotel (seriously, how amazingly have these gorgeous people treated me? THANK YOU, HWNT of Ft. Worth!!!). Two weeks later and I'm still blissed out. What a lovely experience.

Custom Party Design

To continue catching up, next I give you Custom Party Design.

This client found me via Etsy. She had a theme and color scheme in mind but she wanted it with my original illustration of an elephant. We're both very pleased with how it turned out. I absolutely love designing and planning parties. I can't wait to see her party pictures!

See more of my party designs on the La Petite Fete Facebook page and be sure to give it a "like" while you're there. Cheers!
