Far From Home

330%20024%20b.jpg

"Far from home" That's the theme for today's Photo Friday and this is one of many heirloom irises that reside in my garden. They come from Guy's parents' beautiful house on the lake in East Texas. A few years after his Father passed on, his Mother moved to the city to be closer to her family. Oh, but the lake! That place was great and we made so many incredible memories there.

As for the irises, I always forget whose garden they originally came from though I know it was one of Guy's grandmother's gardens. I think that is so special. May they continue to thrive in their new home(s) and spread to yet other "far" places. Perhaps one day our children's children will have them in their gardens. Wouldn't that be grand?

I LOVE irises. They are my favorite flower. I can't believe yours are blooming already. Ours will be awhile yet. I have some I transplanted from my mom's house. I hope they come up this year. Isn't it funny how something as simple as a flower can hold such memories?

That is such a neat idea! To bring the flowers with you. How clever.

Ok, that is so cool! You should work on a wooden, distressed sign with your girls for the garden that say's what you wrote...it is very poetic.
