More on Strawberries

So, if you hadn't guessed, we are big strawberry people in this house. I know it sounds weird but Guy taught me how to properly prepare strawberries. It was 13 years ago, during our brief long distance courtship, on one of his early visits that we went to the U-Pick strawberry fields in my home state of Florida. It was something I had always wanted to do and we had such a blast together! We picked two bushels full and when we got home he laboriously washed them all in the sink, cut off the stems and cut each strawberry in half. They were gorgeous! Call me simple but I was positively charmed by this act and that is still how I prepare them to this day.

When Natalie was a baby, the two of us made sport of sitting around just watching her toddle about the house with a strawberry in each hand, alternating greedy little bites with juice running down her chin and down her arms. On one of our visits home, when she was about 3, we took her to the very same strawberry field. There she is at the big old water pump. It seems like yesterday, but, nope, it was at least 7 years ago. Whew! Time sure does fly when you're having fun.

Can you see the giant strawberry in her mouth? Cutie pie!

We'll have to take her sisters there someday. You know, for old time's sake.
