Love Thursday - Outdoor Living

3-22-07.jpg

When the weather warms up, our yard becomes like an outdoor playroom. The front yard more so than the back. Our little house is not much but we have a GREAT front yard. The kids love to run around, swing, ride their scooters and trikes and stroll their baby dolls. Our no longer nomadic Charlie Brown (whoever said Labradors were "stupid" until they were 7 or 8 years old were spot on) chews on sticks and makes us play catch, something we don't entirely mind.

So that's where you'll find me several times a day. Keeping track of and enjoying my four kids (3 human, one furry) immensely.

In the morning, I'm out there in last night's hair thrown up in a messy bun, wearing yesterday's t-shirt and pajama bottoms waving at the neighbors as they go about their busy days. We sing songs and just play. Not a bad way to take my coffee, I say.

During the day, most of the time between chores, errands and various outings is spent out there. Just playing. It's so nice.

The wicker cube you see above is where I keep the doggie poop bags hidden and handy. Yes, you read right: I pick up dog poop. Other dogs' and Charlie's too. It's glamour here, all the time, can't you tell? ha ha ha But hey, that's life! It can be messy and dog poop is a part of it. I can be as much of a realist as the next guy.

Still, picking up dog poop is a small price to pay for this simple and charmed existence I lead. I'm glad to do it.

Happy LOVE Thursday!

I love this. I wish I had a backyard and a porch... and I pick up dog poop too! sadly, I think I'm the only who does it in my neighborhood...

Wait, you pick up other dogs' poop? Wow. You are a poop-fighting machine! I love the pretty poop bag storage container. I keep tampons in my bathroom in a little ceramic container that sort of looks like a house or something. I love pointing it out to guests, which, of course, ruins the purpose of hiding them so well, but what is a creative hiding place if no one knows there's something worth hiding inside?

We recently got a Labrador from our local animal shelter. Apparently he is part Nomad too. He was wandering when they found him and he has managed to escape our fence already too. We have had to add a lovely chicken wire extension over the gate. Thankfully we live on five acres and the house is away from thh road where no one can see!

I have my handy 9 year old pooper scooper person so I don't have to do poop duty.

What a pretty way to hide dog poop! That's a really great idea there. It was so nice to read this post, I love your positive outlook and appreciation for the blessings you have.

From all the non-dog owners I just want to say THANK YOU for picking up the poop! And that is a lovely box to keep your bags in.

You are obviously a very brave woman, Nino.

If you need a box that big just to hold the size of bag required for scooping the poop, those must be some big turds! ;-)

Truly outdoor living - sounds wonderful!

Awww, you paint such a great picture of it, I can almost imagine you all out there enjoying your front yard and each other. Thanks for sharing that lovely moment with us.

I was just sitting here listening to my guys run in and out the back door playing and thinking how wonderful that Spring has come. Happy LT.

I commend you as well for picking up the dog poop. Our former neighbors not only did not keep their damn gate locked, allowing the dog to roam freely (and he was by no means a friendly lab), but also did not pick up the poop! And since the dog could go where he wanted, guess where the poop was??? Our side yard and sometimes even our back yard (we don't have it fenced in completely). So keep picking up the poop and, of course, enjoying your girls and playing outside!!

Oh gawd...7-8 years!!! I thought it was 2 years old when they calm down. Henry is 8 months and I think I'm going crazy. He pulled off the gutters on the house recently.

Oh and that cube is too cute for poo.
Hugs,
a.

Hey... it's not just Chloe's poop, but still, I'm sorry when it is!

I wanna be you when I grow up. I love your life!
